Currently Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) is facing major shortfall of 801MMcfd and it would further increase in next two months. Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources, Dr Asim Hussain Thursday told the National Assembly that currently, the SNGPL is facing major gas shortfall. He said that against demand of 2,678MMCFD, 1877MMCFD gas is available for sale. The demand pressure on SNGPL's system increases due to additional load during winter, he said.

In order to meet the shortfall and to save the system from collapse, he said that the company is constrained to carryout load management in different sectors. He said that the SNGPL is carrying out load management in different sectors as per schedule: (i) Fertilizer Sector; as and when available on rotational basis. (ii) CNG Sector; 3 holidays a week. (iii) Industrial Sector; 3 to 4 holidays a week (As per requirement) and (iv) Cement Sector; no gas.
